Freddie Frog


This pattern has not been tested, please let me know of any errors you may find in the pattern. Thanks!


Materials:
WW yarn- small amount green
Small amounts of white & black
Polyfill
US Crochet hook size G
Yarn needle

Gauge - 4 sc = 1 inch, 4 sc rows = 1 inch

Finished size-- about 8 inches tall from top of head to bottom of feet.

Notes: Do not join rounds unless indicated.
Mark the beginning of each round with a stitch marker or scrap of yarn.

Head

Rnd 1: With green yarn and starting at top of head, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (18 sc)

Rnds 4 & 5: Sc in each sc around.

Rnd 6: (Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (24 sc)

Rnd 7: Sc in each sc around.

Rnd 8: (Decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) repeat around. (9 sc)

Rnd 9: (Sc in next 4 sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) repeat around. (10 sc)

Rnd 10: Sc in each sc around, join with a sl st in next sc, fasten off.

Stuff head firmly.

Body

Rnd 1: With green yarn and starting at bottom of body, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (18 sc)

Rnd 4: (Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (24 sc)

Rnds 5 - 9: Sc in each sc around.

Rnd 10: (Sc in next 2 sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) repeat around. (18 sc)

Rnd 11: Sc in each sc around.

Rnd 12: (Sc in next sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) repeat around. (12 sc)

Rnd 13: (Sc in next 4 sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) repeat around, join with a sl st in next sc, fasten off.. (10 sc)

Stuff body firmly. With a length of green yarn, sew head and body sections together.

Legs (Make 2)

Rnd 1: With green yarn and starting at foot, sh 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: (Sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (14 sc)

Rnds 4 - 6: Sc in each sc around.

Rnd 7: (Decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) repeat around. (7 sc)

**stuff foot at this point, but do not stuff leg.**

Rnds 8 - 15: Sc in each sc around, at the end of rnd 15, join with a sl st in next sc, leaving a length of yarn for sewing, fasten off.

Do not stuff leg. Sew opening at top of leg closed.
Sew legs to bottom of body.

Arms (Make 2)

Rnd 1: With green yarn and starting at hand, sh 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Rnds 3 & 4: Sc in each sc around.

Rnd 5: (Decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) repeat around. (6 sc)

**stuff hand at this point, but do not stuff arm**

Rnds 6 - 12: Sc in each sc around, at the end of rnd 12, join with a sl st in next sc, leaving a length of yarn for sewing, fasten off.

Do not stuff arm. Sew opening at top of leg closed.
Sew arms to sides of body over rnd 12 to align with legs.

Back Of Eyes (Make 2)

Row 1: With green yarn, ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, turn. (5 sc)

Row 2: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (8 sc)

Row 3: Sc in each sc across, fasten off.

Front Of Eyes (Make 2)

Row 1: With black yarn, ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook, change to white yarn in last step of last sc, break off black yarn, ch 1, turn. (5 sc)

Row 2: With white yarn, 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in last sc, change to green yarn in last step of last sc, break off white yarn, ch 1, turn. (8 sc)

Row 3: With green yarn, sc in each sc across, fasten off.

Sew one front and one back eye section together over the sc of row 5 only to form one eye. Stuff eyes and sew onto top of head.
Note: Pin eyes in desired positions before sewing.

With a length of black yarn, embroider mouth onto center of face.

Weave in all loose ends.
